Regarding the raid on the Amish farmer in Pennsylvania ...
(cross-posted to GD)

I drink raw milk and eat raw butter (it is much more nutritious than pasteurized products, which I also consume). It is legal in Calif. for organic-oriented markets to sell these products. I assume the risk, having been fully informed about the pros and cons. I decry the Federal emphasis on this, and believe that my local and state governments do quite adequately at regulating food safety. There is no need for federal harassment.

If you're into the Food Freedom movement, here's how to help Dan's defense effort (the story is below):

Feds Raid Amish Over Raw Milk

Posted on May 1, 2011 by The Warrior

A year long sting operation against an Amish “contraband” raw milk producer in Pennsylvania has resulted in a court case against Rainbow Acres Farms. The government filed a ten page complaint against the Amish business in federal court last week.

“It is the FDA’s position that raw milk should never be consumed,” said Tamara N. Ward, spokeswoman for the FDA.

1. I hope they give him the chair
thank god they removed this danger to society from the streets. :sarcasm: (because you have to put the little thingy here or someone is going to think it's a serious statement)

You'd think the FDA would have better things to do than this.

2. Really, this was a "year long sting"....what a waste of time
and money to catch a farmer selling (gasp) milk.

You guys GET it. Thanks; and, if anyone has any cash to donate, this is a good cause. Let's see that this man gets the best in legal counsel. In any case, spread the word!
