Local company making huge strides in developing cancer cure, free of side effects
COVINGTON, Ky. - Bexion Pharmaceutical would be the first to tell you, their research is far too preliminary at this point for them to be able to promise a cancer cure. They still could be several years and millions of dollars away from that, but one thing they can promise at this point is hope--hope for those who are desperate. 9 News Anchor Lance Barry took a closer look.

Inside Bexion Pharmaceuticals' unassuming Covington office, among the test tubes, chemicals, and vials, stands something far more important. It's called the "Wall of Inspiration", featuring the faces of those hoping that the research that takes place there brings about a cancer cure.

"This certainly puts a face with a name, with a diagnosis. Unfortunately, two of the individuals on the wall have since passed away, but they continue to be part of our inspiration," said Chuck Scheper, Chairman of the Board for Bexion.

His fight against cancer goes far beyond his financial interests in the bio-tech company. His battle is personal too. "I feel like all of my experiences in my entire life, including my own cancer journey, has led me to this point in time," he said.

This is such promising news. They are applying to start clinical trials in the Spring of 2012.

1. Well, good for the very, very wealthy, cuz they'll be the only ones who'll
benefit from the cure. I'm sure the cure will be so $$$ it will be out of reach for regular people.

2. Not a drug, hence no side effects.

IF they can get the same results when they start testing it in people, WOW. Look for the big guns like J&J and Pfizer to aggressively try to take them over if it looks promising; then sell it for a gazillion dollars.

5. I had heard a "story" of a man who was stricken with cancer, a native American.... whose
doc told him he was on the way out. He went to the medicine man so the story goes and he went to his drug store, (field of plants) made him some concoction and the man lived on.

When he reported it to either his doc or whoever the "story" states that the fields where this plant was growing was sprayed and that was that.

I am not saying I believe this however this was told to me just a couple of weeks ago, I certainly wouldn't put it past them, not after what I have seen these bastids to.

15. Well, this short list will have to do.
Intestinal amebiasis, anaplasmosis, anemia, anisakiasis, anthrax, aspergillosis, Babesiosis, bacterial mningitis, bacterial vaginosis, balantidiasis, botulism, bubonic plague, brucellosis, Several forms of cancer, candidiasis, capillariasis, Chagas disease, chicken pox, chlamydia, clonorchis, cyclosporiasis, cystoisosporiasis, diphtheria, dientamoeba fragilis, diphyllobothrium, echinococcosis,
heavy metal poisoning, giardiasis, leprosy, lymphatic filariasis, malaria, measles, mumps, pertussis, rabies, sleeping sickness, smallpox, tetanus, Trichomoniasis, typhoid,

Sadly, there's no known cure for Morgellons, or its underlying cause.

(This is by no means a comprehensive list...I got tired of typing readily available information.)

12. Several forms of cancer...
e.g. most cases of Hodgkin's disease and childhood leukemia.

Polio has been not cured but (what's better) prevented; and other diseases that have prevented since then include measles, mumps, rubella, Hib meningitis, and others.

14. An ironic username for that question, indeed.
Just a start: http://health.howstuffworks.com/diseases-conditions/rare/12-deadly-diseases-cured-in-the-20th-century.htm

There's also leprosy, and as noted just above, many varieties of cancer. I'd consider a 90%+ 10-year survival rate a cure, wouldn't you?

6. If this turns out to be true, I will start donating to research again.
I quit years ago because all they ever come up with is a new "treatment" that usually costs lots of money each month for whatever their new little "pill" is. This article gives me hope but I'm 68 and they been looking for a cure my entire life.

8. They interviewed the scientist who discovered it and he was very humble
another hospital in the area is also doing research on it now. I so hope it holds up to human trials. It would be so amazing and would be such a major, major breakthrough.

13. Even placebos have side effects.
That's why drugs are compared to them in trials.
