The truth about colonic irrigation: It doesn't work (Review of research shows)

http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/health-and-families/health-news/the-truth-about-colonic-irrigation-it-doesnt-work-2329681.html

"It had been a steady passage from alternative to mainstream for colonic irrigation – but that could change after researchers have rubbished the treatment’s benefits, and cautioned about its side effects – including cramps, nausea, vomiting and renal failure.

The process, rebranded from the agricultural sounding colonic irrigation to less intrusive “colonic hydrotherapy”, has become less taboo over the last two decades, having become popular with celebrities desperate to lose weight.

...

During a normal 45-minute session, which currently costs between £60-£90, about 60 litres of filtered water is used to flush the colon, after which users supposedly benefit from increased wellbeing, better skin, smoother bowel movements, and feeling lighter.

But a new, comprehensive review of research has chronicled the side effects suffered by some users of “the internal bath”, from cramping to renal failure – when the kidneys fail to adequately filter toxins and waste products from the blood.

6. I know that the first thing I ask myself when I'm sick is...
"EvolveOrConvolve, how much water do you think we can fit up our asshole today?"

7. Why did I get incredibly sick within two hours of having one?
I could feel my sinuses fill up with mucus in two hours. It was an instant sinus infection/bronchial infection.
I had to go to the hospital and was checked in with bronchitis.
I have never had an illness come on that quickly.

Something was being majorly disrupted in my body. Something was getting stirred up and didn't like being disturbed.

8. Well, yeah.
If you had some minor virus, and then this serious agitation hit your system, well, there you go...

10. This was definitely bacterial, not viral.
What kind of answer is that?

12. Could be an electrolyte imbalance that let a bacteria you were dealing with go wild
Sounds like the colonic threw your system off enough to let the bacteria or virus take hold.

" What they did find, however, was a whole range of side-effects, including abdominal pain, nausea, dehydration, electrolyte imbalance (minerals in the blood that help regulate, among other things, neurological function) and kidney and liver failure.

"From what we gathered, this is not a benign process," says Dr Ranit Mishori, the lead author. "It can be quite dangerous. You are inserting tubes and using up to 60 litres of fluid. This could cause punctures in the colon.""

13. I didn't get a colon puncture.
Just the quickest onset sinus infection/bronchitis I have ever seen.

About two to three hours, max. As I said, I got admitted to the hospital with bronchitis.
