Scientists Turn Back the Clock On Adult Stem Cells Aging
http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2011/09/110920163215.htm

ScienceDaily (Sep. 20, 2011) — Researchers have shown they can reverse the aging process for human adult stem cells, which are responsible for helping old or damaged tissues regenerate. The findings could lead to medical treatments that may repair a host of ailments that occur because of tissue damage as people age.

2. While they may underplay it...

Isn't this the most important of the keys to immortality? This is how we age - our cells expire. I'm a scientist but not a biologist so I don't know if I'm right but this seems to be a singularly significant step which I have been expecting.

3. Possibly interesting side note ...
... I agree it sounds like what they found might be a key finding in stopping or reversing the aging process although they are only talking about fighting age related diseases.

I listened to a couple of biologists discussing their work on aging and they said it's not possible to get government funding to pursue anti-aging drugs or therapies because aging is not classified as any kind of disease. It's just a normal part of life.

So everyone who is doing this kind of research has to frame it as attacking age related infirmities such as Alzheimers, cardiovascular disease, cancer, etc.
