HPV jab: doctors call for teenage girls to be given more effective vaccine against sexual disease

Doctors are urging ministers to mount a sustained attack on the UK's most common sexually-transmitted infection by immunising 12- and 13-year-old schoolgirls against genital warts.

Influential medical organisations want the jab that is already given to girls of that age to protect them against cervical cancer, to be replaced by one that also safeguards them against warts.

Doctors specialising in public health are pressing the Department of Health (DoH) to switch from the existing Cervarix vaccine to a dual-purpose jab called Gardasil. Genital warts afflict 170,000 people every year.

A decision is expected within the next few weeks on which vaccine should be used in the next four-year programme, starting in September 2012. Discussions with rival drug firms are almost over.

Read the actual Merck Gardasil insert, it admits it only protects from 4 (Types 6, 11, 16, and 18) out of dozens of types of HPV (HPV is linked to 60 to 70% of cervical cancers, not all), and lists numerous serious side effects, including death:

Given the limitations of Merck’s original clinical trial methods, the fact that malignant cervical cancer takes decades to develop and yet the longest clinical trial on Gardasil was only four years in duration at the time of FDA approval (irrespective of the overwhelming evidence citing a 74% drop in cervical cancer mortality & incidence rates, in developed countries, due to a widespread emphasis on regular pap smears & safe sex and/or abstinence from unprotected sex), the bottom line indicates ‘Gardasil was never shown to prevent cervical cancer.’

But here at DU and many other popular discussion websites, criticizing the Rockefeller medical education slaves for pharmaceutical profits is a big nono. Thanks for trying. Look at the history of medical schooling- the internet is your friend- 99% of what comes out of it is completely geared toward corporate profit, not health. Otherwise, doctors would learn extensively about nutrition. They're lucky to have one class in all their years of training.

And it is the complete opposite of SCIENCE.

First off, if you actually checked out the data on VAERS instead of cherrypicking, you'd be aware that most of those so called "adverse reactions" they've had are completely untraceable. For most of the claimed "deaths," VAERS didn't even receive a name or a report from a doctor, simply a claim that someone died from the vaccine. However, since they're required by law to retain ALL complaints, it's in there.

More to the point, correlation is NOT causation. If I get a vaccine, then get killed by a brain tumor next Tuesday, it's a fair bet the vaccine didn't kill me. But I would still be recorded as "death after taking X vaccine." They also track "adverse events" like fainting or dizziness... hardly a shocking event when you've just poked an 11 year old girl with a needle. And even under those loose definitions, there is no statistical evidence of the vaccine being harmful.

ACTUAL SCIENCE, as in controlled studies of people who actually exist, scientifically determining through rigorous testing what is an actual side-effect and what is coincidence or psychosomatic, show that there is NO greater risk from being vaccinated with Gardasil than being in the general population or any other vaccine. Meanwhile, those four types of HPV are responsible for about FOUR THOUSAND deaths from cervical cancer every single year. Vaccination against these viruses saves those lives.
