Mice Study Gives Preliminary Hope For Future Peanut Allergy Treatment
Cure for peanut allergy in sight

"Allergy experts at Northwestern University in Chicago have managed to create immune system tolerance to peanuts in those who are sensitive to them, by attaching peanut proteins on to white blood cells.

The team tested the approach on mice and now hope it can be replicated in humans too.

Paul Bryce, assistant professor of medicine, explained: "Their immune systems saw the peanut protein as perfectly normal because it was already presented on the white blood cells."

He added: "Without the treatment, these animals would have gone into anaphylactic shock."

1. thanks for sharing
my granddaughter is at the top of the list or however they rate that - they aren't even allowed to have a peanut in the house. it causes anxiety that i would love to see gone.
