HPV Vaccine Prevents Most Anal Pre-Cancers: Study
http://www.canada.com/health/vaccine+prevents+most+anal+cancers+study/5611811/story.html

"A vaccine against the sexually-transmitted disease HPV, which can cause cervical cancer in women, also has been shown to prevent most anal pre-cancers in gay men, according to the results of an international study released Wednesday.

Men who were vaccinated against human papillomavirus developed 75 per cent fewer anal lesions that lead to cancer than their counterparts who were given a placebo, said the study in The New England Journal of Medicine.

The findings were released one day after a U.S. advisory panel urged the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to recommend routine vaccinations for boys aged 11-12 against HPV.

The disease infects at least half of all sexually active adults and can cause genital warts, but often people with HPV show no symptoms at all.

Just FYI on a newly released study. This comes on the heals of another recent report:

1. But it might make kids think about sex. Therefore, let's ban it.

3. Wow, all the more reason to fight it: it keeps gays from dying due to their "sin".

6. OMG THINK OF THE CHILDREN!!
Now they're all gonna be like "hey, I got the HPV shot! It protects both places now! Bring on the multiple casual sex partners!"

I think modern media has way more of an influence on sexual activity in children than vaccines.

8. Well... tell that to the 70 + children that have died because of this vaccine.
Edited on Thu Oct-27-11 04:10 PM by Yooperman
Not to mention those that had other side effects.

Don't get me wrong.. I am not against vaccines however I also am not sold on all of them especially when there is so much hype about them. Someone is making a shitload of money and I wonder if that is the driving force for some of the push to promote them.

They say over 40 million doses have been administered thus far...so the percentage of problems is small... but if 70 people died because of a car defect I am sure there would be a recall on the product until the problem was solved.

Rest in Peace to all those that have lost their lives to this vaccine.

Peace

9. In other words, you don't understand how VAERS works.
Edited on Thu Oct-27-11 04:22 PM by HuckleB
Not one death has been declared to be caused by this vaccine.

Until you understand VAERS and science. Please don't push crap that will only serve to keep people from getting a safe vaccine that will SAVE lives.

BTW, the Twain quote on your profile is in direct contrast to your post here. That's very interesting.

PS: The term "hype" in relations to vaccines is only accurate when applied to the anti-vaccination movement. For some reason, there are a few people who find disease to be something to promote.
