1. I know too many people...

who have almost died, or have died from pneumonia. My deepest wishes for recovery are with AtomicKitten right now. Does anyone have a hospital/room #? Some of us would like to send flowers.

14. About 6 years ago, I skipped taking a flu shot

I got the flu, ended up with pneumonia and just about died. I don't skip it anymore.

Ended up with Guillain Barre Syndrome and died.

My sincere condolences. Death from Guillian Barre syndrome is extremely rare less than 4%, almost all of those are in developing countries. Did she develop a secondary problem? Regardless it is terribly unfortunate and I'm sorry for your loss.

2. I've been through that twice -- not fun at all!

Sending light and love. I certainly hope she doesn't live alone. Recovery from bacterial pneumonia can be really tough. It knocks you on your butt and you stay there for awhile.

7. I took the pneumonia vaccine this year

.....I didn't even know they had one, but my doc said I should get it. I think you only have to get it once.

Our thoughts are with AtomicKitten.

Specifically, the 23 strains that cause most pneumonia.

9. I had gotten walking pneumonia following the flu three years in a row.

That was more than ten years ago. Since then I've been getting the flu shot every year. No flu, no pneumonia, and hardly any colds.

Cause Pneumonia SUCKS!! I sympathize,whenever my throat swells it could endanger my life bone spurs scrape my esophagus than it goes from my head right to my lungs,than it is hell,I cough so bad I pop out my ribs,and have to wear incontinence pads and sit with a nebulizer full of smarmy tasting medicine to get air into me and I got to take prednisone,and that shit makes me a little loopy in my mind, I hate it,It SUCKS to be sick!!)
