6. How many old people are trying to kill health care reform
and how many support reform?

The original post is obnoxious in quite a few ways.

7. It's from Reddit.com
Reddit is a pretty obnoxious site. I did the screen cap, cropped it and posted it, so you can blame me.

But, I've been to three town halls, and I can verify that the teabaggers skew heavily towards the elderly end of the age range.

8. Sorry, I shouldn't have attacked you for it
But the question remains: How does support for health care reform skew, in terms of age?

Here are a couple of data points. I'm 65. I have Medicare. I feel very strongly that we need single-payer universal health care in this country. My wife is 63, and she feels the same way.

9. No problem
I'm sure the stats are in google somewhere..or nick silver's site 538.com might know.

For myself, I could tell by counting signs and crowd noises that the first one was about 50% for and 50% against, the 2nd was about 90% for, and the third was about 66% for. At all of them they tried to outdo us in noise. I would guess for 75% the real motive is liberal hating like Rush and Beck sell. And a grab bag of other causes (anti-abortion well represented). The larouchies are the ones carrying around the Obama with a hitler mustache poster.

I'm going to a pro health rally this Saturday in Portland, OR. I don't carry a sign (not my style), I carry around a clipboard trying to sell them Old Glory Robot Insurance http://www.hulu.com/watch/2340/old-glory and try and take pictures of the nuttier ones...

For a bunch of spontaneous concerned citizens they planned their teabagging event schedule well...the town halls are about done but the teabag events are just starting, so they'll get all the TV coverage right up until the vote.

This is actually quite an opportunity to outnumber them at their own events, if we sieze it.

You can look up pro-hcr events here
http://healthcareforamericanow.org/

and teabagger events here
http://www.teapartyexpress.org/tour/index.html
(alas, I don't live near any)

10. I think the reason you see so many older folks at the the teabagger events
is because they have the time to prepare and attend these events. The single mother with 3 kids, 1 with ballet and 2 playing some sort of sport doesn't have time to cook dinner let alone wait in line for hours to attend a rowdy event where she's going to get screamed down by a bunch of potentially violent teabaggers. The guy working 3 jobs to support his wife, kids and mother-in-law who's in a nursing home? No way, he couldn't make the time if he wanted to; his family comes first. The physically handicapped vet? He can't make it because his fucking legs got blown off in one of Bush's wars.

It's unfortunate, because many of the ones who really need the health care reform, and support it, aren't able to attend these sorts of events. Instead you get the independently wealthy, the retired, and the unemployed Rushbo jerkoffs who think their joblessness is the fault of the Obama administration.
