I sort of half-heartedly suggested a month or so ago there might be a third wave of H1N1 deaths, based upon no science whatsoever, but a haphazard look at this chart and guessing a pattern:
...Now it appears there is some talk of this actually being possible?
Iowans urged to get vaccinated against H1N1 before another ‘wave’ hitsDES MOINES – The state’s medical director Monday urged Iowans to get H1N1 vaccinations before a “third wave” of the influenza virus likely hits the state this winter.
“We are going into our typical flu season,” said Dr. Patricia Quinlisk, medical director and epidemiologist for the state Department of Public Health, who got her H1N1 vaccination at a Polk County clinic Monday.
“Since H1N1 is still around and still causing people to get sick, I believe that we are going to have more illnesses and deaths, particularly in January and February,” she added....
And actually there are multiple state health officials saying about the same thing. Did I miss something in the CDC briefings, or is the rest of the world, like me, pulling this out of their rear ends? :D
