The “Other” Resveratrol
A Novel Method to Simulate the Genetic Effects of Caloric Restriction
By Tiesha D. Johnson, RN, BSN

<<How Pterostilbene and Resveratrol Work Together
Pterostilbene and Gene Expression: The Key to Longer Life

Scientists have found that resveratrol activates genes near the beginning of the molecular cascade precipitated by caloric restriction. These in turn activate a broad array of disease-preventing genes. In essence, resveratrol’s beneficial genetic action takes place “upstream.”

Pterostilbene directly activates genes “downstream” from the sites of resveratrol’s action. This complements resveratrol’s ability to help prevent cancer and diabetes, and support healthy blood lipids. Acting together, resveratrol and pterostilbene produce potent longevity-promoting effects across the cycle of gene expression through complementary mechanisms.<<

1. Does LEF Supplement Distributor give you kickbacks for posting their ads?
If they don't, they should.

7. One thing that lept out at me from that review
"Resveratrol products have been associated with scams and false advertising. Researcher Dr. David Sinclair is quoted in ads without his permission. He commented

His lab showed that mice fed the chemicals live at least 15% longer than normal mice. But to get such benefits, human beings might have to consume up to 5 grams of resveratrol a day, he says. That’s about 80 pills, at doses found in a typical bottle.""

I remember reading up on supplements when I worked at GNC, and there was lots of stuff like this, where the effective dose was mindboggling huge. There was a weight loss supplement that was just like this - something like $30 a bottle and to get an effective dose, you needed to consume the bottle in 5 days. The recommended dose on the bottle was much smaller of course, and so low as to have no effect. I actually talked some people out of buying the stuff because of that (although other people STILL bought it!).
