I was circumcised and I had baby girls - the question never came up.

i don't go around comparing equipment with other guys, and I've always been like this - I just don't know what I don't know.

As for 'comparing equipment' I meant I have never asked any other guy if he's had any issues with being/not being cut, so I only know what I know, and I've had no issues with it.

If my babies had been boys I might have discussed it with my wife. They weren't, so I didn't.

Assuming I ever have a male child.

Honestly, it doesn't bother me that I am circumcised in the least. I understand the arguments for and against, and am not sure it's a big deal either way.

14. Learning the facts changed my mind

The fact that...

- there is no legitimate medical or hygienic reason for circumcising infants (no medical association in the world recommends it)

- it reduces sensitivity

- it causes unnecessary pain and stress for the baby

- caring for the wound is an extra burden for the parents

- there is a significant risk of complications

- most of the world outside the U.S. does not circumcise boys for non-religious reasons


Unfortunately, many doctors and parents in the U.S. have been impervious to these facts. It's another example of Americans' resistance to change.

Un, did the sons... big mistake.

Leftover religious bullsh!t from when men didn't wash. Well, duh! If you don't clean the equipment, pretty soon it quits working.

As usual, US is still stuck in the dark ages -- get our medical advice from a 2000 year old book.

Any adult male that wants to become circumsized can do so. No need for parents to take the choice away from them at birth.

For some medical reason. It was potentially pretty traumatic, but I don't know how he fared emotionally.

I'm circumsized, so is one of my sons, the other two are not. I don't really think it is a big deal except to people that get emotional and worried about it. When I matured and thought about it, it was clear to me I would rather have been able to make up my own mind about it, and there was nothing much at stake until you became sexually active, so I didn't allow it to be done after that.

that's the tack that I've taken with the froglets. They can get whatever body modification they choose when they're old enough to consent to it on their own behalf. In the meantime they get to keep whatever parts they were born with.

I had them vaccinated for serious illnesses that they were at real risk of getting during infancy, that could have put them in the hospital or worse. I delayed the Hep B vaccine indefinitely because my babies aren't out having sex or sharing needles.

my dad had VERY strong feelings about it after seeing a guy in the army in the 60s have to be circumcised due to problems of some sort - said it was pretty horrible.

However, I don't necessarily buy all of the pro-circumcision hype and think that I wouldn't have it done. Inflicting pain, however minor and transitory, for what seems primarily a religious tradition that has outlived its usefulness seems like something I don't want to perpetuate.

I expect my wife would have to be consulted, though :evilgrin:
