Looking for light therapy box users
Does anyone here use a light therapy box? If so, which one? What do you like about it. I noticed they are rather pricey and I want to get testimonials from users.

Mods: Not asking for health advice, nor a diagnosis, just advice about a product.

1. Costco had the mini ones at a great price a short time back
They were sold in a set of two and though the smaller size meant you needed to sit by them a bit longer, I found sitting them by the computer worked pretty well.

2. Thanks, hlthe2b
I'll check them out.

I've said for the past couple of falls that I wanted to get one, and didn't. Well, this is the year. :-)

3. I used one when I lived in Seattle
It really made a difference.

After trial and error, I found that I got enough benefits by turning it on in the bedroom in the morning while I was getting ready for work. I would run from the bedroom, bathroom and kitchen while getting ready so this meant I probably was exposed to it fifteen to twenty minutes of it total. It was a bigger box so gave off more light than the small ones another poster mentioned. With the small one, you probably have to sit in front of it to get the benefits. Most likely it does not give off enough light for you to get enough benefits from it by being in the same room

4. That's what I'm gathering
That the bigger ones are better.

I would love to visit Seattle, but I don't think I could live there. I love the heat and the sun. :D

5. A psychiatrist I know
who's researched the tabletop ones for some patients with SAD has two brands he recommends. One is Northern Lights, I forget the other.

6. I have one from the Sunbox company
since they are 10 minutes away from me. It's definitely helpful for me. I was wondering why I was having a hard time getting out of bed this week and then realized it's mid-September and time to start using it. It usually takes 3-4 days of consistent use to feel the effects. I've had a table top one for many years and it's recommended that the bulbs be changed every couple years. The bulbs for mine are less than $40, once you spring for the light itself, you will only have to pay for the bulbs for a long time.
