What's Really In Your Toothpaste?
From the invasion of fancy toothpastes from Europe to fear about the safety of fluoride to concern about the overuse of whitening pastes it can be hard to know what to choose when you hit the tooth-care aisle. There are dozens of nearly identical boxes stacked together, each promising basically the same thing as the next. So what to do?

As with everything else we talk about, you have to get past the marketing hype and learn to read ingredients. We like Tom's of Maine toothpaste, and Weleda's. You can pick your own poison, but before you do, click

3. Excellent choice! You're smart to have "gotten it" years ago. nt

2. I like Tom's but it's not great at freshening breath. I've found the same sort of
problem with the deodorant--no staying power, which makes me sad because I love the smell of their Calendula stick so much!

5. It's totally anecdotal, but I've felt like it's helped with my breath.

:hi:

I used to use the deodorant, too. I switched to some other brand, Jason, or something, but I haven't used deodorant of any kind in years, and I can't tell any difference without it.

4. I used Tom's for years, partly because I earned raves from the dentist when I switched to it.
I've switched to a Trader Joe's version of Tom's, because it's half the price. So far, my dental reviews have remained positive.

7. I like Tom's too, but toothpaste is pretty much all the same.
I just found a nice flavor (Cinnamon Clove) and went with it.

9. I used to use Dabur Red Tooth Powder...
Great stuff (helped strengthen gums, bad breath, whiter teeth, and tartar prevention), but it was VERY strong, and messy. For some reason, I didn't get my last order. Not sure if they stopped making it, or maybe it just took a long time to restock. Hmmmm. I think I'll try to re-order now.
