Texas will consider death penalty for repeat sexual predators (AP)
1/15/07 - AUSTIN, TX) - Texas lawmakers are talking tough about cracking down on sexual predators who prey on children. Some propose the death penalty for repeat offenders, potentially creating hundreds more death row inmates in a state that already executes more than any other ...

"If the punishment for raping a child and raping and killing are exactly the same," Camp said, "the rapist may kill so that witness is no longer there."

In family cases, a child molested by a parent or grandparent may be pressured not to testify if the perpetrator faces a long prison sentence or the death penalty, Camp said ...

Whitmire said if the death penalty proposals being considered today were already in the law, 2,900 current prison inmates could be facing the death sentence. Texas already has nearly 400 inmates on death row ...

1. WTF?? I am totally for more punishment for bastards that rape
kids, you bet. But DEATH???

Castrate 'em. Keep 'em in prison til they're 96 years old. But there is no reason to think that we have the right to KILL them.

The is the most kill happy nation on Earth.

5. Hope Texas loves dead kids.
That's going to be the end result.

Just like all the other "get tough with crime" scams, all this will do is remove any reason for restraint by the criminal.

I hope getting re-elected is worth all the murdered kids.

Poorly trained interviewers at advocacy centers coach the kids every step of the way and presume guilt whether it's true or not. They don't care about justice at all for the children or the accused. The more cases they can fabricate the more grant money they receive.

They'll be putting even more innocent people to death.

13. We're out to overtake Mississippi....
....as the most backward and reactionary state in the nation. This is a big step toward that goal. Welcome to Texas - The Execution State.
