Dry cleaner wins missing pants case

By LUBNA TAKRURI, Associated Press Writer
4 minutes ago

WASHINGTON - A judge ruled Monday in favor of a dry cleaner that
was sued for $54 million over a missing pair of pants.

The owners of Custom Cleaners did not violate the city's Consumer
Protection Act by failing to live up to Roy L. Pearson's expectations
of the "Satisfaction Guaranteed" sign once displayed in the store
window, District of Columbia Superior Court Judge Judith Bartnoff
ruled.

Bartnoff ordered Pearson to pay the court costs of defendants Soo
Chung, Jin Nam Chung and Ki Y. Chung.

Pearson, an administrative law judge, originally sought $67 million
from the Chungs, claiming they lost a pair of suit trousers and
later tried to give him a pair that he said was not his. He arrived
at the amount by adding up years of alleged law violations and
almost $2 million in common law claims.

3. Sanity reigns if the plaintiff gets socked with the defendant's costs
and disciplined for bringing a frivolous suit to civil court.

This should have been settled in small claims, at the most, although I think the cleaner did offer to pay for the trousers immediately.

2. every dry cleaner in DC should refuse service to this guy
they should just post his picture with a circle slash... but of course if they did that he would sue them.

And lose.

4. ahhh that is good news..brings a smile to my face ..along with my coffee!!
and i am glad their court costs will be paid by the jerk who took out the suit !

i just had a suit ruined by a cleaners..and i understand as most reasonable people do..shit happens...the cleaners was more than willing to pay for a new suit..

and i declined their money..as i know it was not deliberate...it is a cleaners i have gone to for years and years...

shit just happens sometimes..as in any business ..mistakes can happen and sometimes ..for no good reason something screws up..

i have made enough mistakes in my lifetime to understand that..haven't we all?

this judge was unreasonable..he was pig headed..he was the worst of who we are anymore ... i think...

he was the ugly American..i have seen over and over again traveling...and at home..

i just hope the judge in charge of the case..sticks the cleaners entire defence costs on that asshole judge who brought the case!! he needs a lesson..and a big lesson..in being human!!
