Judge Orders Ohio to Alter Its Method of Execution
Ohio must stop using a common combination of three chemicals to execute condemned inmates because they may produce excruciating pain, a state court judge there ruled Tuesday.

Then, in what legal experts said was a first, the judge instead ordered the state to start using a single large dose of barbiturate, common in animal euthanasia.

The decision is an exception to recent judicial trends in the wake of the United States Supreme Court’s decision in April in Baze v. Rees, which upheld Kentucky’s lethal injection protocol, similar to the one used in Ohio.

There have been five executions — two in Georgia and one each in Mississippi, South Carolina and Virginia — since Baze ended a de facto seven-month moratorium. And Texas is to resume executions on Wednesday.

1. listen, why is this so difficult.?? "there is NO PROOF WHAT SO EVER" THAT DEATH IS A PENALTY, anyon...
who disagrees needs to provide the "EVIDENCE".. and the Bible isn't proof, the old testament text violates th separation of church and state, Christians cant use their book, it only teaches compassion.. Christianity leaves a back door to heaven for the worst of mankind.. there are atheists in fox holes but none sitting in the electric chair.

they accept jesus and are in heaven before the body is cold.. that isn't punishment. but life in a SuperMax Prison is punishment

why don't people get this.. where is the data, hard facts, not conjecture or opinion, that death is any sort of punishment,

the Death Penalty is a "Blood Sacrifice" when politicians promise to kill people if elected..

3. I don't understand why they don't just use a high dose of barbiturate
Or perhaps opiates. If they don't immediately die, they won't be conscious of their dying experience. That would be more humane anyway.
I don't support the death penalty, but if there is one we have the knowledge of how to do it in a way that is not a form of torture.

4. I am a death penalty supporter.
I agree that the method should be a massive overdose of either a barbituate or opiate that will result in death.

I do have issues with how the death penalty is often applied, minorities and the poor are often singled out and convicted with little evidence.

But the overall theory I do support especially in cases where guilt is not in doubt and the crime was heinous beyond what a civilized society can tolerate.
