It's the law: No sagging pants in Chicago suburb
LYNWOOD, Ill. - Be careful if you have saggy pants in the south Chicago suburb of Lynwood. Village leaders have passed an ordinance that would levy $25 fines against anyone showing three inches or more of their underwear in public.

Eugene Williams is the mayor of Lynwood. He says young men walk around town half-dressed, keeping major retailers and economic development away. He calls the new law a hot topic.

The American Civil Liberties Union says the ordinance targets young men of color.

Young adults in the village, like 21-year-old Joe Klomes, say the new law infringes on their personal style. He says leaders should instead spend money on making the area look nicer.

Yahoo

One suburb at at time, America will be saved from the threat of baggy pants.

1. Gee. Can't the people be bothered to make things look nicer on their own?
Including hiding their frowny-face-with-skid-marks boxer shorts?

If they show their part, everyone else might chip in too.

3. what's the law on females showing bras and 3 inches of a thong?
seems like we see more and more of that lately (at least the thong part), but the jeans are still covering the bottom, with the thong on the lower spinal curvature. Can't women already be arrested for indecent exposure for showing three inches of underwear? If so, I don't think guys revealing the same amount of private area, even if covered by underwear, should have an easier standard.

Then again, one could argue that guys showed more of their equipment in the tight pants of the late 60s or the polyester leisure pants of the disco era. Yeech.

4. I wonder what's next?
...By the same logic you could argue that tie dye shirts, large gauged earlobes, flamboyant hair dye, mohawks, facial tattoos, dog collars and studded belts, etc. are keeping businesses out. Especially you could argue that body art salons in the area are guilty of promoting such a trend and they should be legislated out of the area.

The fashion backlash is just another tentacle on the right wing culture war octopus, although this octopus has more than eight legs.
