If corporations are "people" (personhood), then can a corporation be held in contempt of court

for not appearing? I mean, not represented by lawyers, but actual presence in a courtroom? As I understand it, there have been lawsuits against corporations ... how come they've never shown up in court? They've sent their human "proxies" ...
