Just Say 'No' to Police Searches
Just Say 'No' to Police Searches

In most police encounters, a few basic rules will help protect your constitutional rights and improve your chances of driving or walking away safely -- so you don’t have to be a legal expert to say and do the right thing. To learn how to assert your rights in each type of encounter, click on the link below:

5. Protecting your rights...
doesn't do you much good when the thugs in blue leave you stranded on the side of the road after destroying your car in anger for making them get a warrant. If you've ever witnessed how much cops enjoy destroying your car or your home, you'll change your mind about always saying no.

6. I always will always say "no" to the thugs in blue.
Want to search my car or home officer?

GET A WARRART, officer!!

Fact: most cops have committed many crimes themselves. There is indeed a fine line between cop and crook and I am not a criminal.

The first things dirty cops do when they get caught is clam up and say no to searches, so I guess they know the drill.

Mess up my car or house in a false search and they will see me in court!

Top notch article BTW.

7. In addition . . . here's a SCOTUS case . . .

In addition . . . here's a SCOTUS case . . . as referred in this article in the Christian Science Monitor:
http://www.csmonitor.com/2004/0622/p01s01-usju.html

Of course, when the driver gives his driver's license and other documentation to the police, then he is also giving his identification to the police. As for passenger's, if requested to give your name, then do so.

See: Hiibel v. Sixth Judicial District Court of Nevada, Humboldt County, et al., ___ U.S. ___ (2004)
http://caselaw.lp.findlaw.com/scripts/getcase.pl?court=US&vol=000&invol=03-5554

A word of caution, go to your state drivers licensing department and ask to have your Social Security Number (SSN) REMOVED as your driver's license number. That is, if it IS your driver's license number. Federal law mandates that States give its residents a CHOICE to have a random number (chosen by the State) as a driver's license number or their SSN.

NEVER USE YOUR SSN as a driver's license number.

The rationale for NOT having your SSN as your driver's number is to avoid identity theft. Many police departments still use radio back and forth from the dispatcher to the officer on duty interacting w/ you. Therefore, your SSN is broadcast to the general public.

As well, it is accepted in America that your driver's license is your photo-ID and is used as such. Therefore, whoever sees it, may also steal your identity.
