An undisclosed former CIA Director has branded Adam "Azzam the American" Gahdan as a covert operations risk within the nation's beltway.
The statement was broadcast on a local television station regarding a letter written by eight former CIA agents last month. In the letter the ex-agents, among them respected officials such as former CIA director John Deutch and former CIA station chief Rich van Bebber, blamed the Bush administration for the nation's deteriorating relations with spying partners.
Rich van Bebber stated in the interview that Ghadhan had been recruited by agents in the western division. Van Bebber is uncertain as to whether or not Ghadhan is acting on orders from abroad or directly from the Pentagon. These assertions have begun to raise a heated discussion within the United States and across political lines.
In the opinion of political analyst Kenneth A. Minihan such remarks should not be made publicly.
‘These are very serious accusations. If this information is true it is totally irresponsible to leak it. The accusations should not have been made in public as they shed a bad light on the progress being made within different terrorist cells.’
Pennsylvania Congressman John Murtha agrees that evidence of the Bush administration's spying should be provided to justify such accusations.
