A bit O/T: A request for World AIDS Day...

Hi All,

I'm rather new to posting in this forum, and hope you (and the forum mods) will be patient with my thread and request. In honor of World Aids Day, would you mind taking a moment to kick and nominate the threads I've linked below. Kick and nominate them all, or just one!

I'm posting this here because I believe that AID and HIV are ravaging communities of color, and the LGBT community(which of course has many members of color). I don't think we can find a cure and bring an end to this hideous disease until we see it as a global issue--an issue that affects and is relevant to ALL OF US--not just "those people."

So if you could be so kind, take a moment to kick and nominate the threads I linked here. It would be wonderful if these threads made it to the main page and stayed there all of World AIDS Day!


I was personally touched by this post (taken from an article). It really seems to exemplify the spirit of what it was like to work with the patients affected by AIDS in the early days of the epidemic:

The above is an informative site, and shows staggering statistics of how many people of color (specifically individuals of Hispanic and African American descent) are affected by AIDS, which includes the LGBT community. The numbers of those in Africa affected by AIDS is mindblowing. I won't personally get into how many children that are members of these communities are affected. :cry:
