Petition to Help Florida Tribe Get Federal Recognition

The Honorable Congressman Mica
United State House of Representatives
Washington, DC 20515

Dear Representative Mica,

I am aware that the Indian Creek Band Chickamauga Creek & Cherokee Tribe in Florida are seeking Federal acknowledgement through the United States Congress, which was introduced by petition to your Deltona office. I am writing to you to show my support for this petition and legislation.

The Indian Creek Band Chickamauga Creek & Cherokee, Inc. have for too long been denied their proper place in history of their people and the development of this country. Their participation in the United States Armed Services and their community at large has been a credit to their state and our country, and it is time they receive proper recognition of their heritage and identity. They deserve to stand with the other Native American communities, as Federally Recognized Tribes. Recognition of the Indian Creek Band Chickamauga Creek & Cherokee is long over due.

I therefore urge you to support the Petition filed in your office. The time is now to recognize the Native people of the Indian Creek Band Chickamauga Creek & Cherokee, Inc. of Deltona, Florida.
