Chatfield students disciplined after hanging black doll in noose

CHATFIELD, Minn. - Two students at Chosen Valley High School were disciplined for allegedly hanging a black doll by a noose on the stage in the school gymnasium.

Superintendent Don Hainlen declined to describe the disciplinary action but said information was forwarded to the Olmsted County Attorney's Office.

He said it doesn't appear that the Jan. 4 incident was directed at a particular student. The students who were disciplined considered it a prank and said they did it "without thinking about it," he said.

However, Tammi Stoos, the mother of a black student at Chosen Valley _ a public high school in this southeastern Minnesota town _ said school officials didn't take the matter seriously or address it with students. She said she considers the mock hanging to be a hate crime and said her daughter was deeply offended by the stunt.

they did it "without thinking about it", what a joke. They knew exactly what they were doing. I think they should be severely punished.

the horrors of what they did, then it is very plausible they just did a very stupid thing. se minnesata is prob. very very white-rural (just my guess)

not a curriculum priority

Suspend the students and staple a copy of the incident report to their transcripts when they apply to college.

No college. Nooooooo future for them!
