After watching the teabag "movement" and reading certain posts on discussion boards by conservatives, despite their denials, I am becoming convinced this is largely about race with some extreme tribalism thrown in. See, for example, their screaming about health care now but their silence during Medicare Part D. During the 2004 election, when I was phonebanking and trying to help John Kerry win, the Republican party sent challengers specifically to minority areas and I was disappointed that I was unable to do anything about it. At this time, I generally work most of the week but I would like to know if as a white person there is anything I can do at this point?

When your opponent has nothing but Republic talking points (fantasy and outright lies) and "No" for an answer to every question, it's not too hard to whittle the actual argument down to facts - they're terrified of the scary black man in the WH.
