This defense of Pat Buchanan's views makes me C.R.A.Z.Y.!!!
I just received this email from an older friend of the family and I would love some of your opinions regarding the nonsense listed herein.

Read and enjoy, pull your hair out, scream at the computer screen, etc.

It is titled: Finally...It Is Said Publicly

BUCHANAN TO OBAMA

By Patrick J. Buchanan

Barack says we need to have a conversation about race in America .. Fair enough. But this time, it has to be a two-way conversation.. White America needs to be heard from, not just lectured to... This time, the Silent Majority needs to have its convictions, grievances and demands heard. And among them are these:

First, America has been the best country on earth for black folks. It was here that 600,000 black people, brought from Africa in slave ships, grew into a community of 40 million, were introduced to Christian salvation, and reached the greatest levels of freedom and prosperity blacks have ever known. Wright ought to go down on his knees and thank God he is an American.

Second, no people anywhere has done more to lift up blacks than white Americans. Untold trillions have been spent since the ' 60s on welfare, food stamps, rent supplements, Section 8 housing, Pell grants, student loans, legal services, Medicaid, Earned Income Tax Credits and poverty programs designed to bring the African-American community into the mainstream. Governments, businesses and colleges have engaged in discrimination against white folks -- with affirmative action, contract set-asides and quotas -- to advance black applicants over white applicants. Churches, foundations, civic groups, schools and individuals all over America have donated their time and money to support soup kitchens, adult education, day care, retirement and nursing homes for blacks.

We hear the grievances.
Where is the gratitude??

Barack talks about new 'ladders of opportunity' for blacks. Let him go to Altoona? And Johnstown, and ask the white kids in Catholic schools how many were visited lately by Ivy League recruiters handing out scholarships for 'deserving' white kids.? Is white America really responsible for the fact that the crime and incarceration rates for African-Americans are seven times those of white America? Is it really white America's fault that illegitimacy in the African-American community has hit 70 percent and the black dropout rate from high schools in some cities has reached 50 percent?

Is that the fault of white America or, first and foremost, a failure of the black community itself?

As for racism, its ugliest manifestation is in interracial crime, and especially interracial crimes of violence. Is Barack Obama aware that while white criminals choose black victims 3 percent of the time, black criminals choose white victims 45 percent of the time?

Is Barack aware that black-on-white rapes are 100 times more common than the reverse, that black-on-white robberies were 139 times as common in the first three years of this decade as the reverse?

We have all heard ad nauseam from the Rev. Al about Tawana Brawley, the Duke rape case and Jena. And all turned out to be hoaxes. But about the epidemic of black assaults on whites that are real, we hear nothing.

Sorry, Barack, some of us have heard it all before, about 40 years and 40 trillion tax dollars ago.

This needs to be passed around because,
this is a message everyone needs to hear!!!

OK.........
will you pass it on ?
YES. I did but will you?
Because I'm for a better America

...discuss...!!!

1. thanks - this made my eyes bleed
and my blood pressure go up

It's so so HARD to be a white American. We should all crawl up on a big cross until the world thanks us for being born.

This is like saying that women should shut up and get in the kitchen because there are countries out there were we don't have it as good as we do here.

2. It is time for paaat to be put away someplace with nice padding
To me what has been paid out is nothing compared to what
the descendants of a people who were enslaved for a few centuries, then treated like less than after they were freed for what 150yrs.

Paat whines because he seems to think that African Americans should still be treated as less than. Being gay white I know what it is like to be treated as a less than, and I have gotten that kind of treatment from many who should know better including family. Discrimination in jobs, housing, marriage(we are going to Vt to get married then come back to NC to fight for equal rights, since I am disabled I won't be making a bunch of trips to Raleigh or other places to protest. I will surely be signing petitions and writing LTTEs.

Paats views are passe` and should be allowed to fade away or maybe enshrined somewhere visible to remind us of what we should not be doing.

3. This person is socially insecure.
You can see them coming a mile away. This person is insecure with the fact that we are a diverse country. This kind of talk has come out ever since minorities were institutionally given the same access as everyone else.

8. You can see them a mile away
Insecurity has nothing to do with it, and neither does being
diverse country. Since minorities, whom are now white or pink
by the way, so now that we are all equal: as the saying says,
" I have a dream", now we are all subjects and
serfs.
Reading history will also help. In Great Britain, when a
european was born, they are serfs for life, and their children
were born into serfdom when will this stop?
When?
When will people just start taking responsibility for their
own actions. I never hurt anybody and this is what a get?
An, " Irish need not apply", from affirmative
action, just stated a different way?

Edited on Thu Dec-17-09 06:40 PM by noiretextatique
a real discussion on race in this country. your ilk just continues to deflect and poison the discussion, as you have for centuries. it's not that you haven't been invited to the table...it's that you believe you own the table, just as you wish you owned some african-americans right now. please crawl back under your white hood...and stay there. thanks.

9. Excuse me?
who owns who? This is rhetorical, it offers nothing in the
way of offering any ideas or addressing the concerns of these
supposed racist people that you speak of whom are just trying
to be equal. "your ilk"? what kind of un
-professional condescending language is this? Did you know
that when I was young, and African Americans, were fighting
for their civil rights, one of the issues they had was
condescension. This is what is still happening, but in
reverse. It is still un -acceptable. Marginalizing a few, to
put the shuck over some others eyes will not work. In regards
to wanting to own African Americans is more rhetoric. Where
are all the business' in Detroit?
Explain? Why are they running away?
Explain?

11. Rage?
So facts are the rage now? That is so ignorant and foolish.
No wonder Americans are becoming sycophantic idiots.
