The State of Ohio is poised to execute Kevin Keith on September 15, 2010, in spite of overwhelming evidence supporting what Mr. Keith has maintained from the time of his arrest – he is actually innocent, wrongfully convicted of a crime based on faulty eyewitness identification. The Ohio Innocence Project, the National Innocence Network, and a group of leading eyewitness and memory experts all support relief for Mr. Keith. An Innocent Man on Ohio's Death Row

Kevin Keith is an innocent man on Ohio’s death row, wrongfully convicted of a crime he did not commit based on faulty eyewitness identification – the leading cause of wrongful convictions nationwide. He has an alibi for the time of the crime supported by four witnesses. There is no forensic evidence that conclusively links him to the crime. Mr. Keith is scheduled to be executed on September 15, 2010.

In 2007, after all of his allotted appeals were exhausted, new counsel took on Mr. Keith’s case. Upon investigating, counsel discovered new evidence for Mr. Keith that supported what Mr. Keith was saying from day one – he is actually innocent.

Prominent supporters from around the country have filed supporting briefs and urged review in Mr. Keith's case, including the National Innocence Network, an affiliation of over 50 innocence projects and legal organizations around the country, the Ohio Innocence Project, an organization that typically only works on non-death penalty cases involving DNA evidence, and a group of leading eyewitness and memory experts.

New evidence discovered by counsel for Mr. Keith discredits the eyewitness identification used to convict Mr. Keith. New evidence also identifies an alternative suspect who made a before-the-fact admission that he planned to commit the crime for which Mr. Keith stands to be executed.

what does the National Innocence Network do when it finds a truly guilty person on death row? I like the name "National Truth Network".

5. Then they do nothing as there is nothing they can do if the person committed the crime

and DNA shows the person guilty. Sadly in the last 40 years we have seen an under paid under staffed public defender system that can offer the accused little more then a plea bargain because they lack the resources to defend the accused properly. Then you have a public taught from early childhood that the police are their friends and you should never refuse to answer a police mans questions nor lie to the police which usually means the accused will talk to police and find themselves admitting to a crime they didn't commit.

Then theres the polygraph often misnamed a lie detector machine only it isn't really a lie detector, it is just a fancy machine that measures heart rates, body temp, breathing rates with the false belief that people telling lies has an affect on these body functions, which is why they are not allowed as evidence in a court of law and even if you should pass a polygraph test you can still end up in court trying to defend yourself with no money while the other side has unlimited resources to use against you because a social path can pass polygraph tests. But people willing let themselves be hooked up to polygraphs only later do they fin out that they been hood winked into criminal charges.

The sad part is without DNA proof there is very little an innocent person can do except serve their time or face death at the hands of government. Those that do serve their time even though convicted while being innocent will have to live with that conviction for the rest of their lives. Their fellow citizens will often be leary of that person, the police will seek them out for questioning any time a crime is committed near the area they live in. Every remaining day of their life they know that if they ever get brought before a judge again their chances are 10 times more likely to be found guilty the second time then the first.

This is the American justice system of today, no better then it was 100 years ago, in some ways worse because 100 years ago there was no plea bargain. Even worse is how liberal minded people repeat the lie, if he wasn't guilty why did he take the plea or why did he admit guilt when the real question should be how did the police trick him into making a confession. Real life is not Perry Mason or Law and Order TV shows, those are fantasy on how real justice should work. Police are pressured and rewarded for fast convictions and never will the police help prove an innocent man/woman innocent, police are trained to assume guilt until the person is proved innocent and even then they tend to think they were tricked by the suspect into believing they were innocent.

guys decide just by reading a few websites the guy was innocent? Did any of you sit in this courtroom like this jury did?

man has been exonerated by the FACTS. facts the jury did not receive, as you will see if you read the facts. now, will ohio recognize that in time?
