'Gay party' guests face hormone treatment

More than two dozen men arrested at an allegedly gay party could face compulsory hormone treatment, officials in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, said yesterday.

Police, who raided the party earlier this month in Abu Dhabi, said some of the men had been wearing women's clothes and makeup.

The men are also expected to face trial on charges relating to adultery and prostitution which could result in jail sentences and flogging.

The US state department called on the authorities to "comply with the standards of international law" and stop any hormone treatment.

I haven't heard about this before, and the article didn't go into detail. Is it adding male hormones? What are the effects, if they are even known?

ones. The flogging part activates those parts of the brain's lymbic system that's responsible....

a story like this makes for a real conundrum among the "sanctity of marriage" bunch here in the U.S. On the one hand, they probably love the idea of a crackdown. On the other, they probably love the crackdown.

American fundies and Middle Eastern fundies share more in common than they have differences.
