Why Do Libertarians Support Taft-Hartley?
http://marxistupdate.blogspot.com/2009/12/taft-hartley-slave-labor-act-recalled.html

If you look at the details of the law, its the most "big government" you can get. Why don't Libertarians protest the fact that the President has the right to order you to work? Why not protest the governments right to tell you the appropriate reasons to go on strike?

In a "free market", I can sell my labor or refuse to do so however I like, right?

Guess not.

I think that there's mixed libertarian opinion on this issue.

7. Re: Why do Libertoonians Support Taft-Hartley?
Because most American Libertarians are just Rethuglicans who want to smoke dagga and not get drafted.

3. Because libertarians are, for the most part, actually fascists
You have no right to work, you have no right to pay or fair treatment, you have no rights.

But you can masturbate and smoke weed while hiding from the corporate police.

5. There is a "right" to work?
Edited on Wed Apr-14-10 10:54 PM by PavePusher
Interesting. Please explain how that functions.

If I own a factory, and you want to work there, am I obligated to give you a job? By what "right" is this so? What about the Rights of the factory owner?

Does the government have an obligation to give you a job? What if they have no jobs available? Do you simply get paid to do nothing? Partially with my money?

Hmmmm.....

6. Re: Why Do Libertarians Support Taft-Hartley?
I think you are correct that libertarians wouldn't like this law -- they are pretty into the idea of personal choice and civil liberties. What makes you think they support this notion? The fact that they haven't explicitly come out against this? I highly doubt they would have the time to come out against every law that goes against their insane beliefs. Instead, they tend to simply promote their crazy ideas of limited government.

I don't mean to be harsh, but to think some group actually *supports* something simply because they have no official comment is kind of absurd.
