Social Security 2008 W-2 form

You got me thinking. Maybe the forms that we got earlier that showed
the total distribution for '08 is all that SS sends out. Noted though that it said
in fine print that the form was not to be returned to IRS and that is what
started me watching for the regular W-2 form. z

5. There is no W2 from Social Security

unless you work for Social Security. W2 is for wages -- not SS payments.

What you should have is Form SSA-1099.

And 1099s don't get returned. You just include the info on your tax returns. No other 1099s get returned either -- since they've already been sent to the IRS by the people who generate them.

Am going to use the end of year distribution form that we got
earlier. It has all the info that is needed. z
