Best cell phone for a senior citizen?

Can anyone recommend a cell phone for a senior citizen (late 70's) who's technologically-challenged?

No camera, no nothing. You can call from them and get calls. You pay for what you use.

Buy the phone and a year's service with 400-800 minutes. Less than $100 and you're done. No bills, no nothing.

....you too will get to be a senior sometime...so stop making fun!
Now for an answer.........most wireless service providers, such as AT&T have the option of getting a pre paid phone. Another option is to have them added on to your service as a family member. That is what I've done for my father. It's really best to let them see and feel the phones so they can determine what they feel most comfortable with.

changed from an expensive plan that I hardly ever used. I had 4000min in the bank accumulated.

I got one for 19 bucks a month and 250 min...more than I need. Also, you have NO contracts.

7. I'm 77 and now have a Motorola Razr but I've had a cellphone

since 1994.

I have no problem with my current phone and use it for calls only.

I'm sure your friend/relative would find this very easy to use with a little help.

I know a couple of mid-80-somethings that really love it including the customer service.

23. I have Jitterbug and it is not pay as you go. I pay only $14.95 a month.

The Samsung phone is only $39.95, but I opted for the more expensive Jitterbug phone for $99 because I liked the large number key pad.

9. You might take a look at the ClarityLife

It's been in use in Europe for 2-3 years now. It has a lot of features for seniors. I don't think any of the major networks carry it, but you can buy it directly unlocked and it should work on any GSM network once you get the sim card from your provider.

16. No Bells, no whistles. I use a tracfone and have been very

satisfied with the phone reception and ease of use with my new flip phone. I did have an older model that was not a flip and it was difficult to program, not intuitive at all. The new one, a Motorola
W260g is not only easy to use, it is logical to my non-savvy mind. I too am a senior and technologically challenged. Phone was bought at CVS but is available anywhere. $14.00 with 20 minutes. I have had to buy minutes every 60 days. Buy 60 minutes for $19.00 to keep it active. Simple except I had trouble with the last minute renewal. I did it by phone and had to be in contact several times w/tracfone because the minutes were never credited to my phone.

I have no complaint about the phone capability, it is cheap and the phone is good. You can buy any length of service. Much cheaper to buy longer minute time but the arrangement I have works for me.

I am assuming that you mean a prepaid cell phone service, not just a new cell phone

I pay about $5 a month if I don't use it at all. There are months I don't use it. If I got to the point where I was consistently spending more money, I would get a different plan with them. I like having no contract. I have their TNT model that I bought on sale at kmart for 9.99 - you can buy the phone cards there too -

19. We both have T-Mobile prepaid and I use a very basic Motorola

flip phone that cost me about $25 when I started with T-Mobile in 2006. The numbers are large enough for me to read without my bifocals.

24. I got my dad a Pantech Breeze II.

He used it until he passed away this year at the age of nearly 92. He needed some help getting it set up but otherwise was able to use it pretty well. It has three prominently-located speed dial buttons, which were especially useful, and it also has an easy-to-read screen.
