I need socks with traction. Anyone else ever have this problem?

Here's the story, I got orthotics about 2 months ago and I have to wear them all the time. They're like an insole in the shoe.

And they're very smooth, so my foot slides around within the shoe. This may sound goofy, but it's true. It doesn't slide around that much, but even a little is too much when you're chronologically gifted.

Experience, strength, hope?

5. I really like the hospital socks
I use them as slippers - I've never worn them inside a shoe.

4. Yes! I have some experience with those non slip hospital socks
and they seem to work pretty well.

We used to be kids at one time, didn't we?

6. try an art or hobby store for a "light" spray adhesive
Edited on Tue May-04-10 09:28 AM by sui generis
any hobby adhesive for "light" applications or for t-shirt printing - professional t-shirt platen adhesive for screen printing is another good one.

put a newspaper under your feet (for overspray) and give your fresh socks a very very light spray in a well ventilated room, let dry for 10 or 15 seconds, and then insert feet. This will work with sport and dress socks, and will remain "tacky" all day.

Don't respray the same socks between washes or it won't wash out - it's basically watered down rubber cement in a spray can. You want the adhesive to stick to the sock and not build up on the orthotic. The platen adhesive is designed to "wash out" after printing/drying, plays well with other fabrics, and can be ordered on line.

Try a hobby store first.

7. Go to the sock store at the mall
There's usually a store that just sells socks and underwear. They probably have something.

8. Athletic tape
Just line the surface of the orthotic with some athletic tape. It has a texture like cloth that should provide sufficient friction with the socks you already own. My wife does this with the "shoe side" of the orthotic to keep it from "squeaking" when she walks.
