Anyone got the new superflu shot for seniors yet?

1. Not yet, but I always get it in my rump

It's a much bigger muscle and there's always a lot less localized soreness.

If you're talking about feeling feverish and achy, that's just your immune system doing its thing. OTC pain relievers can cut both the fever and discomfort.

However, if you've got a fever over 101.5F, you could very easily have a real infection that just happened to occur at the same time you got the shot. Antibiotics don't work on viral infections, but if you are feeling short of breath, it's time to call the doctor and be seen.

4. Thanks, Warpy..Seldom have had much of a reaction to flu

shots, but considering the new one is a bit stronger was
just curious. Not going to bare my rump to the local pharmacist

9. Yah. I got both on the same day. A couple of sore arms.

I turned 65 this year, so Medicare paid the bill. There are a few good things about becoming a geezer. That's one. The other is being able to go out on the front porch and yell, "Get off my lawn, you rotten kids." I can't decide which I like better. :rofl:

11. She was a nurse for 40 years, so...

I remember when she was still working, she would bring the shots home and give them to everyone in the neighborhood, so taking a yearly shot is no biggie for any of us. I was a little concerned about this super shot at first, but turns out it wasn't any worse than any other year.

5. I got a flu shot last week, & one for pneumonia

but I don't know if the flu shot was a "superflu" shot. They didn't say. I' m 62, btw.

7. Here in CA the signs say that it is for those over sixty five, so

there's a possibility that you got the regular shot.
Glad you got the pneumonia. Even though it only covers a
limited type of pneumonia, it is certainly worth getting IMO.

10. It's a misnomer, any way

Most seasonal flu shots protect against more than one strain of the flu they think will be the dominant strain that year. This one protects against that plus the nasty flu that emerged in Mexico last year.

It's not like you're getting an overdose of narcotics or anything like that. Your body can't tell the difference, really, between one antigen or several. The muscle aches and feverishness are signs your body is producing an effective response and are one hell of a lot less serious than you'd get from the real thing.

12. I stopped taking flu shots and have a new method for preventing flu

And my method is cheap and has no side effects. I just wash my
hands with a few drops of liquid soap after touching anything touched
by others. It seems to work great.

13. I had the shot on Friday-very strange reaction

About 3 hours after I got the shot my arm suddenly got very sore, I had a couple of chills and a runny nose. Thought "oh oh here it comes". I took a 2 hour nap and when I woke up-no symptoms at all. None since.

14. A few days ago. No problems.

I had a pneumonia shot in the other arm at the same time. That one hurt for a few days.
