mentioned that SS would be cut 2%. Does that affect us now or is that for future recipients? If so, I'm looking for a nice bridge. All I can hope for is Bernie Sanders and others to filibuster this catastrophe...

3. Both of my sons, in their late 40s. Both work so hard. Third rail |
|
is right. Both have said they didn't expect SS to be around for them, how incredibly sad.

I understand that the payroll tax will be reduced by 2%. There was nothing pertaining to those receiving Social Security benefits.

5. Reduced by 2% for one year. |
|
No, this is not going to reduce your or anyone else's Social Security benefits.

6. And I would assume for most people, the employee saves 1%, the employer saves 1%. |
|
The difference is so small, I doubt people will even notice the difference.

7. 2% will be cut from FICA taxes on the employee side therefore creating a larger SS Shortfall |
|
This will affect me (I am a twenty something). These cuts will be extended indefinitely and this will be the perfect opening for the Republicans to successful de-fund Social Security leading to massive cuts across the board and the complete dismantling of the program. Some form of it may exist as a welfare program but that is all.
