Send a Penny to the White House...Cutting Social Security Makes NO Cents!

The National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare has a new Penny Campaign leading up to the President's State of the Union. To convince him not to consider Social Security cuts, they are urging their members and supporters to print out the following letter and mail it to the White House.

4. Just a reminder

Postal mail to the White House and Congress goes through a screening facility and takes quite a while to be delivered. Letters mailed today are unlikely to reach the White House within this time frame.

5. Americans have paid $2.5 trillion more into SS than they have received in benefits

Problem is that this surplus money has been spent and replaced with IOUs. A good part of the US debt is owed to the SS trust fund and politicians don't want to pay it back.
