Miracle baby survives pregnancy in stomach

A BABY is recovering after growing in her mother’s abdomen instead of her womb.

Surgeons only found Millie-An Pittman positioned underneath her mother Lisa’s stomach when they performed an emergency Caesarean section.

Abdominal pregnancies, which occur in one in 10,000 cases, are usually terminated because of the risk to the mother’s life, but repeated scans during Ms Pittman’s pregnancy did not pick up the problem.

Despite losing 12 pints of blood and needing emergency surgery after the birth four weeks ago, Ms Pittman, 27, and her daughter are both fit and back at the family home at Letchworth, Hertfordshire.
