Interesting self-organizing effect.
I made a bowl of "Easy Mac" just now in a 6" Corel bowl. When I took it out of the microwave, the majority of the macaroni were standing on end, neatly packed together. It looked very biological.

2. Macaroni do not "self organize!"
Only Intelligent Design can explain organized macaroni! Your macaroni have clearly been touched by His Noodly Appendage!

7. It's a Sign! It's a Sign!
For He meant us all to make our Mac'n'chez in bowls, rather than pots.

Destroy your pots! Destroy them! For His Spaghetti and Meatbally goodness is upon us all!

16. Thou shalt not worship false Noodles!
Begone with your blasphemous Eastern strings.

I shall not look upon your tiny packets of seasoning, nor shall I boil water in preparation, least it be in preparation for His and only His divine noodlage.

17. Wrong!
It's a sign that his Noodly Holiness does NOT want macaroni served in bowls, for he refused to allow the noodles to lie down in it!

Destroy your bowls! Gather your pots!

Heretic!

3. Questions...
What are the properties of a 'corel' bowl?
Was there any organization of the noodles before microwaving?

Might it have been the convection of the water in a confined area which stood the noodles up? (how big and what shape is the bowl?)

5. Corel is a sort of strength-annealed glass.
The bowl was a 6" round bowl with tapered sides.

The noodles were dumped from the packet and water poured on.

I will repeat the experiment at lunch tomorrow and document it with pictures...

I got it from the wikipedia article on the FSM.

4. I've seen the same effect when I made that stuff for my son.
it's really neat the way they do that! Perhaps it has to do with steam venting?

13. Nope. I can't
But I plan to repeat the experiment tomorrow, and will have a camera ready.

Of course, the "camera effect" means that it won't happen again tomorrow.

15. I'm sure it's simply the effect of
the water boiling and the noodles lining up with the convections in accord to resistance.

But it was the almighty who created the physics that makes it happen.

How?

By an inverse probability function resulting in temendous amounts of hydrogen being cast about in a 'big bang'. This release was subsequential to the early formation of a cosmological constant that would later dictate that the hydrogen would congregate and fuse into stars to produce planets and heavier elements which would then combine into compounds out of which life would arise...

When you're God, you just make the rules and the universe follows them. You are not so impatient that you have to do it in six earth days.

(just once I'd like to see a conversation about easy mac become a theological discussion...) ;)
