This next image is a blow up of the area in the white rectangle. Each pixel is 11x11 inches!

1. Each pixel is an 11 inch square in the lower image?
So some of those small craters I see are only a few feet across?

Damn! It's about time one of those spy satellites was put to good use!

2. I think I see President Clinton's budget surpluss hidden there somewhere
And maybe some of Saddam's WMDs.

Also, doesn't that rock look a lot like Richard Hoagland?

5. yep-try looking at the ful rez versions on the NASA site
And they also note that this was just a trial run, the instrument will be better once they start with the mission this fall. I guess they have to put it in stable orbit first.

6. They are using aerobraking to circularize the orbit.
Takes a while, but the fuel savings are amazing.

7. Very Cool, looks like a fault with some slight strata folding
If you look at the close-up photo between the scallop like depression on the right (impact crater?) and the flow pattern just to the left of center you can see a possible fault running from lower center right to upper center left. Looking at the detail image on the nasa site the strata (layers) where the fault runs through the slope are slightly deformed. Very cool.

8. I'm so glad this mission was a success!
I can't wait to see the ones that start coming in when they get it into its final orbit.
