Cannabis may prevent osteoporosis
Researchers looking at the effects of cannabis on bones have found its impact varies dramatically with age.

The study found that while the drug may reduce bone strength in the young, it could protect against osteoporosis, a weakening of the bones, in later life.

The results were uncovered by a team at the University of Edinburgh who compared the drug's effects on mice.

Osteoporosis affects up to 30% of women and about 12% of men at some point in their lives.

1. My brain remains quite fresh, I assure you.
Your last comment was insupportable. Stick to the facts, man.

3. No offense, but "many people" cannot function when stoned.

I am one, LOL. I get confused, I get lost, I forget what I was supposed to be doing. And worst of all, I become consumed about anxiety about what other people are thinking about me! But that's all water under the bridge because I swore off all drugs in January 2003 and have been drug free ever since.

4. As Bobcat put it... "The problem with drugs isn't drugs..."
"It's that some people do them and don't do them well..." Paraphrasing, since he was talking about himself. But the sentiment remains.

Honestly, some people shouldn't do drugs of any kind. If it makes them acutely uncomfortable, paranoid, highly suggestible, stupid, or just plain obnoxious (and I've known people who were affected in each of these ways by various substances), they just shouldn't do it. Just like people who are afraid of driving shouldn't drive. If it doesn't suit you, don't do it.

Having just given up one of the two addictive drugs to which I'd become accustomed (nicotine), I'm left with only one remaining. And they can have my coffee when they pry my mug from my dead, cold fingers. I don't have many vices left. I'm keeping that one, dammit.

Pot doesn't "cook" the brain. In fact, there's no evidence moderate use does anything at all to it, though the method of ingestion (smoking) isn't terribly good for the lungs (though it's certainly healthier than smoking cigarettes). Millions of Americans go about their business on a regular basis while under the influence with no one the wiser. I don't know if that's because it affects everyone a bit differently, or if they simply learn how to handle it better, but considering how many people admit to smoking it regularly, it's obvious that it doesn't discombobulate everyone to anywhere near the extent you describe.

There's plenty of disinformation about cannabis floating around. I just can't sit by and see it spread needlessly by people who should know better.

6. That's a problem with sex, too
"some people do them and don't do them well"
Does that mean we should outlaw sex?
Of course not.
