UFO Conspiracy Theories has Holes

As Irene Klotz noted here on Discovery News, a measure before Denver voters, if passed, will establish a commission to study extraterrestrials. What's behind it? The proposal is promoted by a man named Jeff Peckman, a conspiracy theorist who believes that there's plenty of evidence that aliens are visiting Earth, but that it's all being covered up.

Conspiracy theorists typically believe that governments around the world have operated in tight collusion to keep the truth from the people. It would be a remarkable achievement indeed, given the changes in administrations and regimes over the decades.

Keeping state secrets is difficult enough, but a conspiracy of this magnitude would involve thousands, or perhaps tens of thousands, of people in a dozen or more countries. There are plenty of (often contradictory) stories from both known and anonymous "former officials," yet not a single person has come forth with hard evidence of extraterrestrials.

Peckman and other UFO conspiracy theorists have a difficult time explaining why, exactly, all the governments of the world are so concerned about the public being aware of aliens, what the purpose of a cover-up would be.

1. The purpose of the cover up is to keep the existence of the spiritual powers secret.

By creating an illusion of a coverup of an illusionary explanation for existence, is so people don't know it is not about aliens.

I am not saying aliens are not possible, they could easily be created and added into the mix of reality. But they are not what is behind the different sides.

One side is secrecy, deception, and manipulation. The other side knows if people know the truth about things the world will get better. However those that believe in secrecy only see those truths as nightmares, since it conflicts with what they think of as best, but can not defend, so they try and keep things hidden, even from themselves.

I just amazes me how the most deluded ones try and apply "science" to the question and in making their case totally and comically demonstrate a lack of scientific rigor. My favorite is the standard "professionals (pilots and astronauts, etc.) have reported UFOs, therefore aliens are here!" Well, I have never heard a single sane person maintain that there are no UFOs, but the term is not equivelent to ET craft.
It is a fool's game to begin debunking the sightings--there will always be plenty more and they really are not the issue. Where is the physical evidence? There is none.
Anyway, I think the article missed the biggest hole in the theory. I can almost imagine a worldwide conspiracy of all the governments of Earth (OK, I can't really) but, after coming all this way, why would they agree to secrecy? If they are advanced enough to get here, and somehow convinced by our government not to reveal themselves, just how is it that we're seeing them all the time? Our government(s), if they are indeed working with the aliens to keep things secret surely have plenty of people they wouldn't mind turning over to the aliens for anal probing fun. Why must the aliens seek mid-western behinds to poke?

There's a substantial difference between "the moon landing is a hoax" and "persons A and B were convicted of conspiring to provide material support to Al Qaeda."

There's a difference between conspiracy to commit a crime and conspiracy theory. 50 years ago, both terms may have meant the same thing, but "conspiracy theory" is exclusively used to describe such things as the alleged moon landing hoax, the "9/11 was an inside job"/"Loose Change" nonsense, etc.

If, by "their" you are referring to all claims of planned, coordinated bad behavior, then we're back where we started and you're saying there's no such thing as conspiracy. In that case we should let all those prisoners go and apologized for locking them up needlessly.

If, on the other hand, you mean all things that are not true when you say "their" then you're merely saying that anything that isn't true isn't true. Which is accurate, but not very helpful.

If you're saying that anything which hasn't been proven so far can't be true, then I challenge you to defend that idea.

PS, what do you think the UFOs that pilots regularly see. I wonder if they are representations of holes in the space-time continuum and what we are seeing is a short-lived window into another universe or another dimension.

23. Conspiracy Theorists usually are on an ego trip

They are the special ones who can see through the plot and lies. I guess that helps them feel intelligent.

They are the ones who are doing "research" and something important. Probably compensating for a existence that doesn't.

They all believe they will be vindicated one day. Some like to daydream about the day when everyone who is currently laughing at them will have to come crawling in apology.

Admitting their evidence is nothing more than crap posted by other idiots online and they are wrong is a huge ego hit. Thus most cling on year after year thinking their pet theory is "just about to come to light".
