Early humans began in southern Africa, study suggests (BBC)

Modern humans may have originated from southern Africa, an extensive genetic study has suggested.

Data showed that hunter-gatherer populations in the region had the greatest degree of genetic diversity, which is an indicator of longevity.

It says that the region was probably the best location for the origin of modern humans, challenging the view that we came from eastern Africa.

The study appears in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

4. I think I read about _South_ African origins over a decade ago.

And I am not just referring to the "we walked so we could wade" hypothesis. I think there has been a lot of work associated with the 'Border Cave'.

Anyway, it isn't worm evolution so it isn't really of any import to me.

I mean it is odd that Jesus put the garden of eden in Africa what with him and Adam/Eve being aryan and all but whatever, the lord works in mysterious ways.
