The Insanity of Anti-Choice
The general mayhem of spin in all media has reached the point that it's now interesting to listen to Limbaugh and his clones for how masterfully they intentionally misinterpret, disinform and ramp up emotional reactions to their willful ignorance.

Today the windbag heir apparent to Limbaugh, Tom Sullivan, is once again setting up a phony argument and spending three hours taking calls on his false premise. Red herring for everyone!! With a side of bullshit and an elegant flim flam for dessert.

Somehow, Joe Biden saying that Barack Obama chose public service after college and, "That's what you do when you're raised by a single mother....." out of context regresses in Tom Sullivan's chuckleheaded universe to what he claims Biden is saying, "If you were raised by a single mother and you don't choose public service you're nothing and it's a putdown of everyone who doesn't make that career choice...."

Huh?

It's sad that mainstream media has gotten so insane and inane, that listening to professional liars practice their craft is now interesting. (Local outlets for progressive talk radio airwaves have disappeared). Since they are in service to and members of the upper upper class, most of their time is spent demonizing liberals. They misinterpret events to sway their listeners into the Big Business point of view, while pretending to be on the side of regular folks.

One of their favorite refrains is "we don't want government (or liberals) telling us what to do!!!!!!!"

*

Today Tom Sullivan was talking about criticism of Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi as Catholics and pro-choice. "You can't be Catholic and be for abortion!!!!!!"

Blah blah blah blah blah blahblah blah blah blah.

He's just finished talking about public service and in his willful ignorance seems incapable of distinguishing between personal religious belief and public policy. (He's not as stupid as he pretends and has gotten very good at playing dumb -- and playing his gullible listeners).

Why couldn't someone have religious or moral views on an issue and still be able to fulfill their duty in public service, separate from their personal view as they are LEGALLY REQUIRED TO DO?

Why couldn't they be a moral being, grounded in their beliefs AND aware that they have no right to impose those beliefs on others?

Why couldn't someone have personal views (and choices) on abortion and still understand that their point of view does not extend or apply to others?

Oh, that's right. Some religions have long histories of imposing their views on others, including entire ("un")civilizations. Some religions tell their followers that their personal moral point of view gives them the right to impose it on others. Some religions and some individuals don't grasp the concept that women are human beings with human rights and sovereignty over their own bodies and lives.

And while I'm thinking, "What makes these self righteous people think they have the right to impose their views on anybody else's life?" the next thing Tom Sullivan says is:

"I'M TIRED OF THE PEOPLE IN WASHINGTON DICTATING HOW I SHOULD LIVE MY LIFE!!!!!"

Excuse me? You've just dicatated that public officials who are Catholic should impose their church's edicts on the public and violate the privacy rights of individuals -- government telling people how to live their lives.

You've dictated that those public officials don't have the right to serve in government, if the laws conflict with the edicts of their church.

You've dictated that they don't have the right to be Catholic if they are in public service that legally allows abortion.

You've dictated that those public officials don't have the personal right to separate their private views from public policy.

You've dictated that there is no separation between church and state.

You've dictated that some members of the general public, based on their own beliefs, have the right to dictate how others should live their lives.

You've dicated that women are less than second class citizens, less than human, mere incubators, under the control of the church, with no rights, no privacy and no protection from the judgement and influence of strangers. No guarantee of "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness." No respect for the fact that WOMAN is the creator of life and no one else has jurisdiction over that power.

What happened to:

"I'M TIRED OF THE PEOPLE IN WASHINGTON DICTATING HOW I SHOULD LIVE MY LIFE!!!!!"

Oh, that's right. You're insane.

Oh, that's right. Some people still don't get that WOMEN ARE PEOPLE.

So:

Right wing disinformation
+ Religious self righteousness
+ Bigotry against women
+ Willful ignorance
+ Hypocrisy
+ Incomprehension of American government
-----------------------------------------------------------

1. RE: The Insanity of Anti-Choice
I think the best part about it is that the McCain/Palin camp keeps claiming that they're for the people and that Obama/Biden are trying to "own" us...talk about hypocrisy!

3. Making Abortion Illegal Won't Stop It
Any more than making murder, rape, robbery, drugs, drunk driving, and ripping DVDs illegal has stopped those activities. What makes them think that American women are going to stop having abortions if they're illegal?
