Keith Olbermann's number-one story last night: Miss California has fake boobs
In what he called the show's "number-one story," Keith Olbermann last night in Countdown not only reported that Miss California -- known for having stated her opposition to gay marriage during the recent Miss USA contest -- has breast implants, but also called her a "boob" as a person:

OLBERMANN: The cruelest cut of all. The outcomes here, too. Perez Hilton looks like an intellectual titan and some sort of civil rights leader. And the new poster girl against same-sex marriage is not just a boob, but a fake boob. This is a real win for this cause, is it not?

2. KO story was juvenile. He can and has done better .
I would rather hear about something important - not a little boys circle jerk.

4. There was all kinds of important stuff on the show last night. The pageant story was LAST.

He was calling her out on her hypocrisy and countering her as a spokesman for the "poor little abused me" bigoted anti-gay right. Good for him.

That said, Michael Musto is not funny.

3. No. 1 story is the least important.
She got called out for her ignorance and hypocrisy. Good. Fine with me.

5. Smells like ... justice.
Let's all spend a few days passing judgment on her private bidness. Maybe she can explain how a boob job is "biblical".

8. This is in 'women's rights'?
Why? That plastic piece of silicone does not speak for me, or many women. She speaks for the bigots, and the same people who've been stamping down women's rights. I don't give a flying fig what KO says about her. He's not a bigot or a sexist, so why post this here?

11. But wasn't she sharply criticized before she became spokesman?
Or was it only after becoming spokesman that the criticism came?

12. Yes. She needed to be. She whined that she lost because of her honest "free speech."
Edited on Fri May-01-09 09:55 PM by Hissyspit
She lost because she revealed herself inarticulate, none too bright and intolerant. Her later complaints revealed her as a hypocrite and poor loser, as well. The alignment with National Organization of Marriage makes it all that much worse.

In my opinion, Obama is wrong.

15. It doesn't matter if us DUer's thought it was funny or justified - its that
if some middle of the roader saw it, they would have been highly disappointed with an argument that someone with that opinion must be a "boob" and somehow insinuate that the fact that she had "enhancements" had any relevance to the point they were arguing for.

It also provided the righties, who typically use these tasteless tactics to deflect from the argument, to throw it right back in Olbermanns face. Olbermann could do much better than to lower himself to their standards.

22. Exactly. Even if she is an idiot, sexist is sexist.
Who cares if she has fake boobs? That has absolutely NO business being an issue on a news show.

16. That is childish ridicule
i like Olbermanna and his liberal ideals, but to make a reference to someone's fake boobs (inuendo) is ridiculous and not funny.

So she has a different opinion than we do (insane as it may be), but we don't have the right to make fun of someone's anatomy just because they believe differently than we do.

That makes us just like them.:-(

20. I saw the segment and he also made the point
that fake boobs in a beauty pageant are the equivalent of steroids in professional sports, and artificial enhancement that makes the playing field anything but level.

Plastic surgery, even capped teeth should disqualify beauty contestants just the way doping should disqualify athletes if we want to pretend that such endeavors have anything to do with human reality.

It wasn't just a childish exercise in schoolyard taunting. He did have a legitimate point in there.

21. Thanks for the clarification
I still don't think it was very "professional" of Olbermann to refer to her as a "fake boob", no matter the context.

But, he does bring up a good point when he compares enhancements to doping and I will give him credit for that. nt

19. Sign this petition to take away crown from Miss California
I will not back down for my right to take away freedoms from gay people.
I was punished on that stage. It was my assault on my freedoms and constitutional rights Which should not happen in America – unless you are gay. In which case you should quietly understand that God does not agree with you.
