Michele Bachmann on the cover of Newsweek
I have my feminist bona fides. Marched. Protested. Wrote letters. Lectured.

I don't see the cover as sexist. Her eyes not focusing is anatomical and ophthalmalogic. That is a true portrayal of how she looks. There are other photos of her showing her eyes the way they are. It's irrelevant that she's a woman running for office.

to perfection are appropriate for women? I agree with you. This is a REAL photo of her. In most of the candid shots of her, in fact, she is looking upward, even when talking to others. Seems to be consistent for her...

That said, it certainly was not a flattering photo. But I do not believe that is sexism.

4. It is interesting
that the right wing conservatives who are so often anti-women's rights are the ones who are whining about sexism in this photo.

It's not as though the picture was doctored. That's what she looks like.

5. it's like the Ohio candidate for Congress in 2010 ...
(sold used cars ... excuse me, "certified pre-owned" ... the Dem, in her ads, called him a "used car salesman" ... THE FREAKIN' TRUTH ...)

Expose Republicans with the unvarnished truth ... and they scream bloody murder ...

8. You probably don't see it as sexist because it isn't.
In fact it's refreshingly non-sexist as far as magazine covers go.
