Police free 300 women in Amazon

Police in Peru say they have rescued nearly 300 women from sexual exploitation in a raid in the country's Amazon region.

At least four people were arrested in Puerto Maldonado on suspicion of human trafficking.

Among those rescued from about 50 brothels were at least 10 minors - the youngest was a 13-year-old girl.

More than 400 police took part in the three-day operation in the region, known for its illegal gold mining ...

1. This is a very good thing,

but how I wish that we could get beyond reporting like this in the linked article:

Prosecutors say young girls are lured to the area by women who travel around offering them jobs in shops or as domestic helpers, but that the girls often end up being forced to work as prostitutes in local bars.

Saying women are to blame for taking advantage of girls' (not "people", not "women") extremely low position on the male heirarchy ladder when these reportedly *predatory* "women"/"people" themselves are, as a class statistically, members of this same class of victims themselves is irresponsible at best and abusive at least. :(

2. That is a terrible way to frame what has happened there.

Prosecutors HAVE to be fully aware of who is ultimately in charge of something like this.

Whoever it is, you just know they have a penis but not a conscience.
