2. Done and nom'd
Pretty sure Senators Kennedy and Kerry are already all over this, but it never hurts to add another voice. Thanks for the info, OM.

4. There were two card options
I did not choose the "tacky eye-grabber". I chose the generations of women and chose to support a very real problem.

5. Yes, when you go to the site, but the one they're broadcasting
on DU and elsewhere is which choice?

"The generations" in black and white of older women is to provide a choice for those who find the eyeball-grabber tacky.

I wonder who thinks these things up and why they decided the image and the slogan and the message and the issue needed to be hyper-sexualized.

6. The only reason I knew anything about this
was because I saw your thread. I've not seen it elsewhere. I was apparently under the mistaken impression that you were trying to bring awareness to the situation. I really didn't get from your OP (other than the subject line which seemed to me rather cryptic) that you were questioning the marketing method.

To be honest, I don't see the picture of a bra all that hyper-sexualized. It's a bra. Lots of women wear them. There's nothing shameful in them. The campaign is to keep insurance companies funding mamograms to detect breast cancer. I think the symbolism used is fitting.

7. Yeah, nothing is subliminal when everything is "in yer face"
No one said anything about "shameful." (It's a definite hyperrealisitic, gawdy appeal to the Victoria's secret crowd while the colorless "warm and fuzzy" optional post card for the "other" generations will probably never show on the DU homepage, for example).

The symbolism used is "fitting" in more than one sense.

That's okay, no need to have a media seminar........... :hi:
