Upcoming Vote Could Harm Underage Assault Victims
Hi friend,

At a time when Congress should be thinking about
pressing issues facing America, Senate Majority Leader
Bill Frist has instead tried to pacify his anti-choice
base by proposing a bill around minors and abortion
that puts victims of rape, incest and assault in
danger.

The vote is set to happen in the next few days! Say NO!

This bill, misleadingly named the "Child Custody
Protection Act," would make it a federal crime for any
person other than a parent - including a grandparent,
aunt, or religious counselor - to accompany a young
woman for abortion care in another state. This means
that young women seeking the help of a responsible
adult OTHER than a parent because of violence or abuse
at home would be forced to be accompanied by their
abuser or go it alone. Tell your Senator not to
support this deeply flawed bill.

Clearly, this is an attempt on the part of Senator
Frist to appease his radical base during election
season. If he is really interested in good child
custody laws, he should should consider how a young
woman became pregnant and whether she consented. His
proposed bill does not take this into account, and in
fact -- it actually puts the lives of many young women
who need guidance the most at risk.

Sign the petition and urge the Senate to protect underage
survivors of rape, incest, and assault by saying NO to
the "Child Custody Protection Act" now!

Thanks for your help today.

1. Yes, I should be able to take my underage girlfriend to get an abortion.
Especially out of state. How else can I get rid of the evidence before her parents know?

2. Way to dismiss the concern.
Your lack of compassion for the rape, incest and abuse of our young women is remarkable.

3. What percentage is larger? Those victims of incest or those abused by
older men who are their boyfriends? You just naturally assume that their parents abuse them or don't love them enough to understand and care. I don't. I find your opinion remarkable in it's narrow, blinded focus on your own prejudices.

4. Poster is a male...

...that explains the attitude. Males have no say once they've chosen to penetrate a female (under whatever circumstances they choose to do it). They MADE their choice at that point. They're DONE.

After that, it's the girl/woman's choice - period - and nothing or no one should be an obstacle to HER right to choose - and that is what this is about. Not parents, not state boundaries, nothing should stand in her way. And damn sure not her friggin boyfriend - however old or young he is and frankly that ought to be strict LAW. If the woman/girl was raped or assaulted then that is even MORE reason that she must have her own choice with no obstacles or coercion by anyone. ANYONE.

People (and esp MEN and boys) need to stop trying to control women and girls - by force or otherwise. That's where this problem starts -- and that is where it should END -- and until it does -- we DO NOT have an acceptable level of human rights in this country or in this world.

MEN need to learn to CONTROL THEMSELVES and stop trying to control women and girls.
