This Is The REAL America!!
I belong to a online forum called Pocono Freecycle, where people list for things they want (for free) that perhaps others on the list might have and do not want...or offer things they do not want, hoping someone else on the list will want the items.

Here's a recent WANTED posting from there...just to show you the REAL America...the one Bush won't tell you about...

5. You went into the voting booth w/Christina & Bob?
Gee, I guess all poor people vote repub... that is, if they can make it to the polls between jobs to even cast their votes. Poor people couldn't possibly vote Dem! They're all just dumbass backwoods hilbilly rednecks! :sarcasm: :sarcasm: :sarcasm:

"They also voted Reep." What an assumption to make. :puke:

3. Lend, hell...
They are asking someone to GIVE them a car!

The whole point of Freecycle is just that...everything there is free.

And I don't know these people, and have no knowledge of how they voted...not very fair of the previous poster to make such assumptions.

I just posted this as a real-life snapshot of just how wonderful this economy is...that people are in such positions!

I...myslef, am unemployed 2 years now, living at home with mommy at 36 (had to move back home 2 years ago) and going to school to learn medical transcription, so that I might launch my own business, and tell corporate America to take a flying fuck at the moon.

4. An Hour commute ? ...
WITHOUT traffic.

Sorry, they don't need a car. They need a different method of getting to work.
I can not imagine a 20 minute commute WITH traffic.

Cheers
Drifter

7. You Must Not Live In the Northeast
Such long commutes are commonplace here, because people tend to live in Eastern Pennsylvania, to flee the high taxes of NJ and NY...and then work in NJ and NY for the higher wages.

My mother commutes 90 minutes one-way.

I know of people who commute 2 1/2 hours one way....with traffic.

This is because there are no real acceptable jobs in this area of Pennsylvnia. It's all low-paying blue collar jobs. The white and pink collar folks moved here to avoid the high property taxes in NJ and NY...but still commute to those places to work in the jobs that utilize their skills, and that pay a wage commensurate to that level of skill and merit.

I, long ago, decided I would not commute so far, and have, instead, decided to launch my own business from home. I decided such long commutes were just plain not acceptable.

Now, if they had a train, or something, that would be one thing...I would not mind driving the 15 miles to Stroudsburg, and then pick up a train into NY to work.

I knew of a guy, once, who lived in Wilmington, Delaware...and regularly commuted to NYC to work...although he used the Amtrak.

You obviously do not live in this particular area of the country, Drifter.

9. Sometimes, You Have No Choice!!
Most people who live out where I do, and commute as far as they do...do so because they could not afford a house in NJ or NY, with property prices and taxes going thru the roof...but wages here in Eastern PA completely suck, and you can't afford a house on what the Scrooges here pay. so you end up in a long commute in order to have a decent life.

It sucks, but for most here, it's a reality.

This is why I am launching my own home-based medical transcription business. I plan on having my cake and eating it, too.
