What are your thoughts on Bush's plans to cut from the needy??

Bush's budget axe to fall on poor

President Bush is proposing to reduce spending on public health and social welfare in the US to help pay for tax cuts and the war in Iraq, according to early reports of today's White House budget.

In an attempt to keep government spending under control at a time of record deficits, Mr Bush's proposals to Congress will include cuts in public housing subsidies, in health projects aimed at diseases related to poverty, and in food stamps, which help America's poorest buy groceries. What are your thoughts?? What can we do to stop this?? I don't even know if there is anything we CAN do. :(

1. My thoughts are...
That I sure hope there's a just and merciful God because He really needs to smite the Chimperor's ass, but good. Bush should only fry in Hell.

4. Well
In the constitution is says we have a duty to deal with tyrants.
Greedy wealthy people have become tyrants over America ,economic abuse hurts..Part of being IN a society means you help you give back. The rich refuse to pay their fair share. It's time to stop giving your labor, time and creativity to the rich.

Let the rich do it all by themselves and starve in their empty manufacturing plants and stores..

We can live quite well without the wealthy pigs telling us how to live and telling us to buy their shit. The people of America can teach each other to be self sufficient,we can share and take care of each other, and we can walk away from a bad system and build a community if we value our freedom and decide there is no happiness in slavery, even when it pretends to be free.

The wealthy are parasites that have become a cancer on the integrity of America. The world hates us because of what the rich do overseas, what they do to get rich at the expense of others. They won't stop until they are forced to.

How they are forced to obey the will of the people is written about by the founding fathers.
Dissent is patriotic. Remember American democracy was founded by the rebellion from authority and by disregarding the threats and demands of the rich kings.

9. We can dissent all we want, but is that going to put food on the table?
Seriously...what are these people going to do when they cannot afford to even provide the basics for their families or themselves?? Are people going to chalk it up to "personal responsiblity" when a person has lost his/her job due to outsourcing?? What about those who are trying to go back to school but cannot afford to because * cut the Perkin Loans program??

I've lost all hope.

10. what's more important survival of yourself
Or all of us?
Food on the table..important,yes..but there is something else too.
If you give up fighting now and Bush has he way with America,
you STILL might find you do not have any food on the table in a few years and * will be have more power than before and things could be worse and you would be hungry and less free too..Are you a good German, selling out everyone for your own food supply and this illusion you are safe if you just suck the right ass in the empire?

I hope not I hope your freedom is worth more than a regular full belly.
Don't you see, people in Alcatraz were pacified with food while they were abused. Is food worth selling your soul for? WE all die someday anyway.Food or no food.Do principles matter or creature comforts? And what are creature comforts worth if you are in bondage to a capricious "master" who will take it away from you at his whim and you can't do anything about it? It ain't really your food it's "masters" food"..Nothing is yours under the domination of a tyrant.

11. You're reading me totally wrong here
I'm all for change for everyone. This is NOT about me...it's not about one person. It's about EVERY person in this country who are going to face nights where they have to choose between making rent/mortgage over putting food on the table.

And for the record, I've been there, which is why I am a lot more sympathetic to the plight of the poor. We're by no means rich, hell, we're still in the lower middle income bracket, but that's besides the point.

Sorry, but I don't see what we can do. Call it pessimistic, but as long as * is in power and the Dems are not standing up to his tyranny, then what can WE do??

5. Got a sudden flash of the scene in "Coming to America" where the two
asshole brothers from "Trading Places" are seen as bums in the street.
I would have no guilt wishing that kind of fate on the Bush crime family and their minions.

I agree most with response number 4.

And with the one who said no human can imagine what George W Bush deserves in the afterlife to pay for his viciousness, his mean-spiriteness, and his evil in this world!

Move over Hitler and Mussolini! We have a new roommate for you!!

Fuck you, George W. Bush!!

8. Starving the peasants to fatten the aristocracy has always
been a very bad idea in the long run. If the peasants don't rise up and slaughter the aristocrats, the diseases of poverty start to spread and do the job for them.

As for Idiot, he's just proving how utterly UNCHRISTIAN he is.

12. So glad to chime in here...
Is it Malloy who says: "Have I told you lately how much I HATE these people"?? Well, if hating was ever appropriate it is now and mine is directed at Shrub and his neocon robber barrons.

I can't say how, but I KNEW this was going to happen when bush stole the election in 2000. I knew it even though I did not know nearly as much about the neocon movement at that time.

Ultra right conservatives have always seethed with resentment that the "gilded" age was abolished, and regulations were set into place, by the decrees of FDR after the depression. They've been hoping to dismantle this system for ages. It's actually rather scary to read backwards into history to learn how this country functioned before "Liberals" made some inroads in terms of societal justice. For the work that past liberals did for all of us, I'm SOOOOO PROUD and grateful!

We are a "poor" family. We are being squeezed like orange juice. I've been ranting about these cuts coming for a year in DU. The middle class doesn't have it much better; hell, bushco could push us so far back that we become a feudal system again. Then there wouldn't BE a middle class. Just really, really wealthy aristocrats next to "the rest of us" the much poorer and harder struggling public.

I'm not going to set back and just let this crap roll over me. I've got my fax, computer, a telly and PEOPLE are going to hear from me RELENTLESSLY. What happens to the weakest in this nation, CAN happen to anyone else not among the aristocracy. Believe me, you don't want to live like this.

FWIW, you can't just do nothing. The next person to go under could be you or someone you love--there's more than one way to be hurt by the chimps policies. Don't let the advancements of a long line of fighting liberals go down the tubes under one sociopath! WRITE LETTERS, Call representatives, write to newspapers, march, MAKE NOISE.

It just seems like the country is too quiet about these things. MAKE NOISE... The squeaky wheel always gets the oil eventually.

...........................just a few things that bother me:
*Throw everyone in jail for using drugs--legal patients and doctors included.

*Throw low income households out into the street because Chimp can't spend anymore on subsidies.

*Kill Social Security so aging or disabled folks can go broke, starve get sick and die off.

*Send more and more jobs overseas so more and more citizens can't find decent work.

*Rule against OVERTIME PAY.

*Throw single mothers off Welfare and let them scramble for subsistance.

*Cut funding for higher Education so few folks can rise above it all.

*Cut medicaid for low or zero income sick people.

*Buy up the media so we only get to see what they want us to see.

*Send out the goons to harrass people for "suspicious" activity.

*Jack the price of heating fuel and other fuels so high that no one can afford it anymore.

*Make buying homes and taking out loans for such a stock market commodity so only the well heeled can afford to own property.

TAKE AMERICA BACK NOW!!

13. Reading your list I get so angry
It's the truth. We're lower-middle income and I'm a full-time college student now, my husband works full-time doing a blue-collar job. We cannot afford medical insurance so we applied for state-sponsored insurance for our 5 year old. What are the Republicans going to say to that?? "It's poor choices you had a child and cannot provide medical insurance for her"?? That's a line of bullshit and a half.

I'm beyond mad.

But seriously...I want ideas people!!! What CAN we do?? So far, all the letter writing I've been doing shows nothing. I am losing hope here.

16. Just keep it up, don't stop letting your outrage known ...
You have your hands full but every chance you get...rip off a letter or make a speech in the town square, if you have to(lol), about the heaps of indecencies being foisted on good, struggling people.

Plaster your car with bumper stickers that speak to YOUR issues. Just keep the outrage going in a forward motion. It will make you feel better that you're part of the solution and you've done what you can. They can't have this country forever; somethings got to give eventually.

I, for one, favor faxing writing emailing our foes as well as our friends in Washington. I rather enjoy "bothering" the likes of Dobson: Focus on the Family Guru. Some family values eh, Dr. Dobson????

My very best wishes to you... hang in there, a new day is coming.
 :hi:

17. Thank you both very much
My husband does not understand my passion in this and other political areas...he's very reserved. However...he fully supports me in everything I do.

Support or not, I would not shut up about it. It's something that grates at my heart.

I would never play the moderate on this. I've contacted my senators, written letters, never got ONE response. It bothers me that they are ignoring the public's pleas for help, but these days I have little to no faith in the politicians in office.

In the meanwhile, We'll all keep fighting. :)
