Do you ever get the feeling that we need to just clean the board and start over? Kind of like when your etcha sketch picture is not turning out the way you want.

Everything costs too damn much, rent, food, energy, why? The gap has grown between the haves and havenots, hell it's getting wider and deeper everyday.

Maybe we should restart, everyone go back to even, things are so out of sinc and lopsided this can't be good, I guess I'm dreaming, but, I just can't see why things should cost so damn much.

It wasn't too long ago I could rent a decent apartment for 125.00 per month, I've got a mortage now, but I imagine the same place I rented for that 125.00 is four times that now, why?

2. rampant greed

It has been pointed out that corporations who are experiencing record profits are still laying off, why because it increases their profit margin, I think that Newt with his contract for america is the person we have to thank for starting all this, they will just keep on and on, until there are rich robber barons and an indigent tax payer underclass with huge work hours just to live hand to mouth while corporate execs live in luxury. Forget the minimum wage, 40 hour work week, health insurance, pensions of any kind including social security and child labor laws.

3. Welllllllllll, you have read my thoughts...

I am not an economist; I could never rationally figure a way out of this mess. BUT, on a daily basis I DO roll over in my mind the Etch a Sketch thing. *chuckle*

I've complained about the same things you do. I've tried in my way to argue these points in DU. I think I have an idea where some of the rising costs stem from but I can't prove it.

Basically, I dream of starting over OR going back to a period where most things were level/even and the everyday person had a fair chance at making a living and/or improving his lot in life. Where the wages kept ahead of the cost of living.

I can't imagine who, except the very secure and well placed employed--high wages, or the heavily invested, and of course the aristocracy rich (Gates,Corps etc) would feel comfortable in this present economy! It's here today and gone tomorrow for the rest of us.

I don't think the young understand this problem like the older of us do. They are ever optimistic, energetic, and will "live forever". Frankly, I'd not mind being young and "optimistic" again myself. My nerves would be in better shape and I'd sleep through the night. ;) On the other hand, I believe I heard a few of our youth talking about the exorbitant cost of college books, so maybe some of the pain and strain is sinking in...

Who would have thunk we'd see days like these. "Scotty, beam me up. It ain't workin' out down here!"
